A prison in Pohang, South Korea is testing the world’s first robot prison guard. The US$879,000 robot is able to self-direct patrols, by following the navigation tags along the corridor ceilings, and can detect abnormal prisoner activity and alert its controllers.

Dogs in prison? Believe it or not it’s actually a fantastic thing. The Safe Harbor Prison Dog Program is an amazing organization that saves dogs on death row across the American midwest and sends them to a less lethal death row. Well probably not death row, but the Lansing Correctional Facility where 100 inmates who’ve been trained as animal handlers and trainers foster them. Once trained and socialised the dogs are then adopted out and inmates even have the chance to have the dogs adopted by their own families. Saving dogs and people. Win.
