super cool flight tote bag

The good folks at Crumpler sent me the Gypsy Moth to review, yes I know, TOTALLY AWESOME in itself. Now I have to admit when I opened the bag I panicked slightly, I thought, but, but, but, it’s not black!!! Once I calmed down I realized Crumpler were easing me out of my black comfort zone with my favourite colour… grey. Phew.

The Gypsy Moth is described as a flight bag and they’ve thought very carefully about what you may need on your travels. One thing about a tote or shoulder bag is that you have to unzip the main compartment to get to the zippered pocket inside which can be a real hassle when you have to constantly get your passport and boarding pass out. Crumpler have thought this through, they’ve put a quick access zippered compartment on the outside. Good one.

A lot of peeps these days are carrying laptops or tablets and the internal padded sleeve has two press studs so it can handle pretty much any shape or sized device up to a 15 inch laptop. I love the fact it can be a tote OR shoulder bag. As a shoulder bag it sits incredibly comfortably and the tote handles are padded but a very sturdy twill weave. Ok I don’t know what “twill weave” is but it feels really nice in your hands. Plus when I put the bag down next to my scooter the other day I very cleverly placed it in a small puddle of water. Since it was carrying my laptop and iPad at the time I was so grateful Crumpler had made the base waterproof. I can testify IT WORKS.

Other cool features include a key ribbon with snap lock so you never lose your keys again, Crumpler’s lifetime guarantee, an internal zippered pocket and the external webbing which cinches the bag together and keeps it in shape. Plus as the name suggests, if you carry it on a scooter the Gypsy Moth will definitely make you go faster.
