Designed by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro who worked for Bertone before starting his own legendary design house Italdesign in 1968. He went on to invent classics like the 1974 VW Golf MkI and the 1981 DeLorean DMC12. The Testudo – based on a Chevrolet Corsair chassis – was shown at the 1963 Geneva motor show and is significant not only for its simple exterior lines, but also for having doors that open up together with the windscreen as a single piece from a huge front hinge.
